Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, education or related field preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience working in a K-12 education system and/or providing direct service in the social service field preferred
  • Fluent Spanish speaker able to communicate in conversation and writing 
    • Ability to translate preferred 
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find appropriate and acceptable

  •  Manager of Learning Supports

 

Supervises: NA 

 

Job Goal(s):

Performs the full range of professional duties required to support the district, including the performance of complex and/or sensitive activities; may manage large-scale, long-term projects; and performs related duties as required or assigned. 

 

Position Responsibilities: 

 

  • Serves as a connection point between the school, families and community resources 

 

  • Provides expertise within specific functions and responsibilities of the department
  • Serves as a resource for school-based administration and staff 
  • May be asked to represent the district in meetings, planning sessions, or formal presentations
  • Oversees specific job responsibilities listed below 

 

Job Specific Responsibilities 

  • Support targeted students and families who speak Spanish
  • Provides individual student support, promotes family engagement and acts as a liaison between school, families and community resources 
  • Assist with enrollment, orientation, and connection to educational services for students and families, including McKinney-Vento, Fostering Connections and Migrant Education Program eligibility determinations
  • Assist in publicizing and communicating with families about educational services, opportunities, and events to increase involvement and participation
  • Foster time and attention on school-family engagement
  • Provide referrals to and assist in navigating school and community resources
  • Document, monitor and report required information on students served and services provided
  • Participate in building and/or district level team meetings and professional development opportunities
  • Develop and lead professional learning opportunities for stakeholders focused on deepening an understanding of educational and cultural norms that impact our students and their families
  • Collaborate closely with District/school staff to identify and support families
